LITTLE CRABBIES

These little crabbies are easy and enjoyed.  They are a little salty but I love them just the way they are.  Modifications could be made to reduce the salt.  They can be made and frozen then broiled when ready to serve.

Crabmeat Appetizers

6 English Muffins split

1 jar Kraft Old English Cheese
1 stick oleo
Melt butter with cheese then add:
1 1/2 tsp mayonnaise
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp season salt
7 oz can drained crabmeat

In a small saucepan add the butter, and the cheese. Melt then remove from stovetop and add the remaining ingredients. Mix well and spread on top of split english muffins. Broil until hot and bubbly and golden on the edges of the english muffns. Cut in half's or quarters and serve hot.  You can prepare these and freeze then broil when ready to serve.

  4. Yummy. Love that they can be made ahead and frozen too. Must be a vintage recipe to be using the term oleo. I'll be making with real butter. Pinning it. :-)

  5. There is a little bait/fish/tackle shop in West Point, VA called Digg's that also sells food. He makes something VERY similar to these that are to absolutely die for -- we call them Crab McMuffins. I've never been able to re-create his recipe, but this may just be the ticket using Kraft Old English Cheese in a jar -- my mother used to buy this when we were children for sandwiches, stuffing celery, etc. so I have very nostalgic memories of this stuff! It is hard to find, but Walmart sells it. Thank you for your recipe - cannot wait to try it!

  6. I’ve made these several times. I use butter. And I cut them in quarters and freeze them before I broil them. Then I just broil however many I want at a time.

  7. Yummy. My aunt used to make these.I omitted the salt as first time thought too salty. Added a couple dashes of hot sauce. Then for breakfast added an over easy egg which took this to another level of yummy!
